I went into this race with low expectations.  I decided I would push hard from the beginning and just hold on as long as I could.  I ended up with a PR by 13 seconds.  I'm so happy with my time.  I think this was just what I needed to get me motivated again.

Michelle picked me up at 4:45 to drive to the start.  We met up with Rachel, Teena, Smooth, Jody and Bec.  I just love these ladies.  They are the reason I run.    When the gun went off I took off.  I didn't even look at my pace.  I just ran by feel and I felt great.  By mile 3 I was feeling tired.  I ran next to Bec for a little bit.  She looked so strong.  I wish I could have kept up with her.  Shortly after that I started running with Tim.  It was great to have someone to push me.  We stayed together until shortly before the finish where he had more of kick left than I did.

That last 1.2 miles were tough.  I wanted to walk so bad.  My splits were:

6:33, 6:33, 7:09, 7:06, 7:12, 7:46, and 7:43 avg for the final .2.

We hung out watched the marathon winners come in.  We were so excited when we say Allie.  She is amazing.

You had an AMAZING race and congrats on the PR!! Even with your lack of motivation you're kicking some butt girl!!! I wish I would've found you at the start after the warm-up so I could've tried to keep pace with you, since I never passed you I had a sneaking suspicion that you were getting a new PR! :)

Thanks for making the day so fun for me. I really needed that boost today!!! you and the rest of my running partners are the ones that making running worth it for me too!

Julie, what a great run you had. Love the 6:33s x 2!!!! Glad you are reinspired, All JULIES must stick together on the RUN of our lives. Never realized how many Julies there were until everyone on the blog began referring to one in their blogs. I wasn't sure it was you the others were talking about. Glad it was, SPEEDY :D And of course Julie Thomas represented us well in the Marathon!!!

Yay! I'm glad you PR'd also. Maybe if you get re-motivated it will help me to get motivated. Actually, today was great and I had a blast. Looking forward to Wasatch next Saturday.

It was so fun running some with you on the JRP Sat. THANK YOU! I want to tell you what my husband said about you: "I really like Julie, she has a very kind face and countenance." He said that after the race and again yesterday and again today when he saw the race picture. And I agree with him. So glad I got to meet you.
