Last night was the 2nd night in a row that I have not been able to sleep.  I finally took some Nyquil  at 12:00 and was able to sleep for a few hours.  I was too tired to run 10 miles this morning.  I ran on the treadmill.  1.5 @ 9:13 pace and 3.5 @ 8:00.

PM:  My 10 year old son wants to start training for a 5k.  So we ran 1.2 easy miles.  He did great.

Sorry about the sleep, I have major sleep issues all of the time!!! It makes life hard when you are tired. Chidren's Benadryl works really well!!

Good running yesterday and today!

Thanks Kelli. I will have to try the Benadryl. Does it make you groggy? I had this problem before St. George too. Weird. I don't think I'm over-training, but who knows.

I actually like it because it does not make me groggy. You need to take it about an hour before you want to go to bed, and then relax for that hour. But, it is good stuff! I buy the liquid.

Julie, I hope you get feeling better soon. I'm so glad I had strep and not flu/cold - because I could do antibiotics! Hope to see you in the morning: rested, better and running. Great job getting out even though you weren't feeling great.

Julie- The problem with benadryl is if you take it midnight it affects your am run. Try taking it early. I actually no longer take it because it stays in me too long. If it seems to do this take just 25mg instead of the 50 that is the usual dose suggested in pill form. You can buy 100 tablets for like 5 dollars of diphenhydramine (benadryl) equate version 50 mg tablets and they break apart easily. Just don't take late at night. However you could try melatonin 1mg (natural hormone present to induce sleep cycles and lacking in sleeplessness, cyclical in most women) and again take a half hour before you usually go to sleep. Do I sound like a nurse yet? Anyway I was the same way the week before SGM last year and stayed far away from benadryl because I took it the year before and was totally a zombie in the marathon. I also recommend a warm bath and a good massage, is your husband willing? PS we should definitely meet at the Ogden Marathon.

Julie C-I have the same issue with Benedryl, it stays in me for about 24 hours. I get so groggy. I haven't tried the n=melatonin. I'll have to do that. The night before Painters 1/2 Julie and I both took 1/2 of an Ambien (I usually feel pretty refreshed when I wake up) and I woke up around 2:00 AM to Julie snowboarding next to me in bed. I was out of it so went back to sleep but we had a good laugh in the morning.

That is why I take Children's Benadryl---then I have NO PROBLEMS!!!

Sorry I'm so slow to respond. Thanks girls for your suggestions. Luckily my sleeping has gotten back to normal. But I will difinitely keep your ideas in mind WHEN it happens again.
