After being sick this past week I wasn't sure what to expect today.  My goal was a 1:44 and I did it.  I decided to call my sister Angela last night to see if she would run with me.  She did and I was so happy to have her with me.  It was only 38 degrees and very windy at the start.  I felt pretty good until about mile 10 and then I could feel my lungs burning.  It was so windy today.  My visor blew off my head and I carried it for 10 miles.   Our running group did awesome.  Out of the top 11 women, 9 of them were from our group.  Walter was first place overall.  My mile splits were 8:00, 7:49, 8:04, 7:52, 7:52, 8:11, 8:03, 8:22, 7:50, 8:18, 7:51, 7:46, 7:37, and :48 for the last .1.

Way to go Julie! I was so impressed with your run today. Especially with how sick you've been. You are such a trooper.

From Kelli on Sat, Mar 28, 2009 at 17:33:28 from 71.219.100.181

Is our running group not the best?!?

I am sorry that you were not feeling well, that is a great time for being sick! The wind was crappy, I actually ditched my hat before we started, good thing I guess!

You ladies are gonna KILL Boston, I am so excited for you.

Way to stick it out despite being under the weather.

From RivertonPaul on Sat, Mar 28, 2009 at 21:27:24 from 75.169.17.106

I ended up wearing my visor backwards because of the wind.

Great job Julie!! How was the course and overall race as it was the first year right?

From jody on Sat, Mar 28, 2009 at 23:12:25 from 67.186.198.12

WOW! You did a fantastic job! You are such a tough runner. Get feeling better.

Were you counting Walter as one of the gals?

From RAD on Sun, Mar 29, 2009 at 02:36:57 from 67.166.99.8

Julie, you did awesome! running those times with being sick...I'd like to run that fast on a WELL day. You did a great job, and I feel so blessed to be apart of THE best running group around :)

Awesome job on a tough race!

Nice race, looking great for Boston!

I, too, think you did very well - especially with being sick and the wind. Good job!

From Julie on Mon, Mar 30, 2009 at 18:37:02 from 216.160.236.43

Thanks everyone for the nice comments. Yes Burt, Walter is like one of the girls. But no I wasn't counting him. If you lived closer you could be one of the girls too.:)

Julie- The course isn't too bad. I don't think it's a real fast course though. There are a few good hills and an S curve. The wind just made it feel hard. The organizers did an amazing job for it's first year. I would definitely do it again.

From Burt on Mon, Mar 30, 2009 at 19:00:17 from 68.76.197.194

Ouch. I deserved that.

From walter on Mon, Mar 30, 2009 at 19:11:34 from 76.27.13.75

AHh Julie thanks! Im gonna cry. Ok Im back. Hey, you know the scene in Twilight where the vampire guy puts himself in the sun for his gal pal to show her what he looks like? His skin was diamond covered and glistening white. Well I wished I had my camera because you didnt need makeup after that race to look the part. Ill bet you were hearing double. I was seeing double haha. Get better and dont worry about getting me a skort! My legs are to hairy to be complementing that. Hey I wonder if they skilts? haha see ya later

From tarzan on Mon, Mar 30, 2009 at 19:14:03 from 97.117.61.64

Since Walter asked (I read an article about these a while ago): http://www.runningkilts.com/index2.html

From walter on Mon, Mar 30, 2009 at 19:18:30 from 76.27.13.75

Holy smokes Maurine! I should have worn that at the race! That'll get some attention. haha There is no possible way to wear that is there? Can you imagine the guys wearing those when they go to stretch? oooohhh not good

From tarzan on Mon, Mar 30, 2009 at 19:22:42 from 97.117.61.64

LOL (my eyes! I'm blind!).

A couple of people asked me why I did not take off my compression shorts in my race on Saturday when they were causing me an injury. I just looked at them and said, "Cuz there was nothing on underneath them ;-) "

From Burt on Mon, Mar 30, 2009 at 19:23:42 from 68.76.197.194

LOL, Walter. Like that Jack-in-the-Box smoothie commercial.

From Julie on Mon, Mar 30, 2009 at 19:30:15 from 216.160.236.43

Burt- I meant that in a nice way.

Walter- Great description. I scared myself when I got home and looked in the mirror. I'm feeling much better now.

Maurine- That is funny. Some of us that are going to Boston just got matching skirts. I feel bad that we didn't ask Walter. Maybe next time.

From walter on Mon, Mar 30, 2009 at 19:37:37 from 76.27.13.75

Oh Julie, julie julie. Id do it only for the team. haha Maurine, oh my gosh! If Im like one of the gals, then your like one of the dudes. haha You can make me one but im wearing my shorts under. Does anyone have a Running Times magazine from April. They have a picture of Boston in it and Im on the front right hand side in my blog jersey. Ive been going around to stores and they already have Mays out. Id like one if anyone subscribes to it.

From Kelli on Mon, Mar 30, 2009 at 19:38:29 from 71.219.100.181

I think Cheryl does, but I do not know if she would part with it.

From tarzan on Mon, Mar 30, 2009 at 19:40:06 from 97.117.61.64

I passed mine on to Leslie Peterson last week. She might still have it if you ask her.

From Nancy on Mon, Mar 30, 2009 at 22:25:49 from 76.27.11.127

Great job Julie. I didn't realize you had been sick. I'm glad your sister ran with you. I just about froze at the start of the race because I just wore a tank top and shorts, but after about 5 minutes I warmed up and was glad I was wearing them.
